For those who are relatively new to the club, assigned categories are to help inspire you to go out and shoot. Each year, the competition committee tries to create topics that are interesting and motivational. During a month with an assigned category, a member in good standing (dues paid), may enter 5 instead of 4 images into competition. You may enter all 5 into the assigned category, but you may not enter the 5th image into a regular category. In other words, 4 is the limit, and if you choose a fifth entry, it must be in the assigned category.
2012 Assigned Categories
- March: Reincarnation – using your archived files from a previous competition, any year, make it new and enter it in Reincarnation
- June: Abandoned - something deserted or cast off – must be shot between Dec 1, 2011 and June’s competition
- September: Florals in Black & White – flowers shot sometime between Dec 1, 2011 and September’s competition – black and white images can be shot in b/w or converted using software
- November: Autumn – the third season of the year, when crops are gathered and leaves from deciduous trees fall – must be shot between Dec 1, 2011 and November’s competition.
